Aban was a male Human who served as a military officer in the Imperial Starfleet during the Galactic Civil War. He held the rank of Commander early in the conflict.

Commander on Sedri

Aban was assigned to oversee the construction of an Imperial Aquatic Garrison on the planet Sedri. His mission was to obtain an artifact called the Golden Sun from the native Sedrians. Aban formed an alliance with a Sedrian renegade leader named Karak, promising weapons and support in exchange for half of the Golden Sun and an Alliance diplomat.

Aban led attacks on Sedrian villages searching for the Golden Sun. However, his campaign ultimately failed due to lack of reinforcements from the Empire. After the Battle of Endor, he was reassigned within the Imperial Starfleet.

Service Under Grand Admiral Thrawn

Aban was promoted to Captain and given command of the Imperial Star Destroyer Bellicose. He served as part of Grand Admiral Thrawn's personal armada during Thrawn's campaign against the New Republic following the Battle of Endor.
As captain of the Bellicose, Aban participated in operations such as the assault on the New Republic base on Ord Pardron. However, he often clashed with the Dark Jedi Joruus C'baoth, who disobeyed Aban's orders.

Aban's final reported action was commanding the Bellicose at the major Battle of Bilbringi under Thrawn against the New Republic forces.
